This tour departs from Punta Uvita beach in the Ballena Marine National park .

During the Whale season ( mid December trough late February & July through October ) this trip combines Whale and dolphin encounters, a short session of snorkeling, visit to Ventanas beach to see the wonderful marine caves, carved by the tectonics and erosion over thousands of years. Along the trip you also can observe many birds including some pelagic birds and shorebirds. Enjoy a wonderful view of the landscape of Costa Ballena, the beautiful sandy beaches that protects the Ballena marine national park.

During the NON-Whale season months (March trough the end of June & November trough mid December) the tour includes the other activities mentioned above (snorkeling, bird watching , visit to caves ) & and a short stop to a beautiful beach of the Marine Ballena National Park .

The sites for snorkeling are located close to the shore and the depth varies from 3 to 5 meters and the visibility is normally good on the dry months but on rainy months ( June to November) sometimes the water gets murky and the visibility is not the best so we just take a time for swimming and relaxing on the ocean . One of the sites for snorkeling is the famous Whale’s tail that can be visited only at low tide but if your tour is on high tide the other spot for snorkeling would be the Whale Island that protects many species of reef fish and many birds on the top of its hills.

*The population of Northern Humpback Whales visit us from mid December through late February with the mission to breed their calves. Whale sightings are not very often at this time of year since the population of Humpback Whales from the Northern Hemisphere that migrate to our waters is reduced . Nature is capricious.

*The population of Humpback Whales from South America visit us from June through late October with the mission to breed their calves. Whale sightings are very often at this time of year but we do not guarantee that you will see them on the tour since they are part of our free wildlife.

The chances to see Dolphins is also good since there are two common species of Dolphins at the Ballena marine National park.
