Overview

Come and see an exhibition of butterflies, where you will not only see these invertebrates fly throughout the garden, showing their colors and peculiar parts, the most important thing is that our butterfly garden is a place where an Environmental Education program is developed for both locals and foreigner visitors, and their families, which means that our experience is created to learn about butterflies and nature, explain the concept of biological and taxonomic diversity. To develop the concept of taxonomy and diversity, the three best known and documented families of diurnal butterflies in Costa Rica (Papilionidae, Pieridae, and Nymphalidae) will be used.

Having adult butterflies on-site, as well as a laboratory where you can observe: eggs, larvae, and pupae exhibited, will allow reinforcing the importance of anatomy and morphology to develop these concepts. It is quite a learning experience along the way you can identify a particular butterfly at the family or species level.

The environment and enrichment of the butterfly farm will be used to demonstrate some habitats of the butterflies, such as shady places, moistened soil, moving water, availability of nectar and pollen, open areas, different levels or layers of vegetation, host plants, all this to provide animals with conditions similar to those of their natural habitat. Also, learn about their life cycles, threats, and how we can help the butterflies not disappear.

Dare to learn with us in this new experience of the Central Pacific of CR.

Schedule: From Monday to Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
