Manuel Antonio Park Guided Tour – With the establishment of Manuel Antonio National Park in 1972, the people of Costa Rica decided to preserve for future generations one of the most beautiful and bio-diverse areas in the world.
Although it is the country’s smallest national park, the stunning beauty and diversity of wildlife in its 683 hectares is unmatched. Besides, you will have more opportunities to spot wildlife in a shorter time!
Manuel Antonio Park Guided Tour contains a charming combination of rainforest, beaches, and coral reefs. These beaches are the most beautiful in the country, lined with lush forests. The forest is home to 2 and 3-fingered sloths, toucans, iguanas, the rare and adorable squirrel monkeys, millions of colorful little crabs, and much more.
The trail that winds around Punta Catedral offers some spectacular views. The park is easy to reach, just south of the town of Quepos in the Puntarenas province, and is near a great selection of villas, hotels, and restaurants.
In the Manuel Antonio Park Guided Tour, you will hike through the rain forest along 1,500 meters of easy-access trails in an estimated time of 2.5 to 3 hours, with an experienced & bilingual naturalist interpreter, certified by the Costa Rican Tourism Board.
Your guide, equipped with a high-powered spotting scope, will help you locate the vast variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat, you can also use their telescope to take pictures of the animals up close.
At Manuel Antonio Park Guided Tour you will have the chance to spot Howler, white-faced, and Squirrel Monkeys, plus Agutis, and, if you are lucky, the beautiful Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus), all while learning about the diet, habits, and many more facts about the variety of species you’ll encounter during this incredible nature adventure.

We came to Manuel Antonio with the goal of seeing sloths and were not disappointed. Diego was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and did his best to separate us from large noisy groups. We saw 5 sloths, a snake, bats, toucan, and more with Diego. After the tour was over we returned to the spot of a juvenile sloth and saw it eating and moving! Overall great experience!
We cannot thank Dagoberto enough for his assistance with arranging our tour. Karen was our wonderful guide and she showed us many animals that we probably would have just walked right by if she hadn’t spotted them for us. We saw sloths that were nearly invisible in the trees, as well as other birds, animals and insects. Costa Rica has done a great job preserving this park and it’s a wonderful way to spend a day while in the area.
Diego did a fantastic job and was very knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife. Diego made sure everyone had a chance to view the wildlife before we moved on so everyone in our small group was satisfied! Mucho Gracias, Diego!!
This was the best experience of our stay in this area of Costa Rica! We saw so much amazing wildlife and Beatriz is a fountain of knowledge about the park and the creatures who dwell here. Truly wonderful!
I did a 7:30am tour with Beatriz. She shared her extensive knowledge of the animals she pointed out to us, wildlife I would have missed on my own. Beatriz made the tour a fantastic experience for me
This was one of the best days I had in Costa Rica so far! A huge thank you goes out to Beatriz (aka Queen B).
Before I review this Guided Tour I wanna share all assumptions I had before:
1) Manuel Antonio park is so overcrowded and it isn’t a great experience.
2) I don’t need a Tour Guide.
I must admit I only booked a guided tour because there was no more single tickets for the early morning available. With a guide it was. And I am very very happy about this situation because I wouldn’t have experienced what I just experienced today. I love wild life. And I had tears in my eyes because I have seen so many beautiful animals today.
Everything was very well organised. I received an email before the big day with the name of my guide and a photo. Wow! I love that customer friendly approach.
Everything was on time, and the tour took much longer than I expected. My guide works in the park for 7 years and she was excited about telling us about the animals as she just started working there yesterday.
Beatriz took amazing pictures via phone and telescope. All photos were shared after! It has National Geographic quality! I swear.
Today I made memories I will never forget! Thank you Beatrix! You are a rockstar.
I felt so lucky to be one in a group of 4 people with Bea. She took extra time and was so very knowledgeable and does she have a great eye. I have no idea how she saw the animals she did. I would have missed all but 3 or 4 out of… I don’t even know how many.
I was so impressed by Beatriz’s knowledge of the park, the wildlife and the environment, and her enthusiasm for conservation. She was expert at spotting the wildlife and without her we would have missed seeing so many things (like the sloth Mum and baby in the photo). It was great having her telescope for close up views. I recommend Beatriz as a guide.
I really enjoyed today´s guided nature tour with Andrés. He is an amazing guide, I would have never been able to spot all the animals without him. He is such an enthusiastic, funny, professional guide. He is doing such a great job!
The only remark for the park organization: add a staff member for the payment at the restaurant area, one staff is not enough, visitors are arriving all tired and have to queue for quite long at the checkout counter. Thank you
My school group and I had a phenomenal tour with Beatriz. Her knowledge of the park was impeccable- and she had an amazing eye. We couldn’t walk 10 feet without spotting something incredible! I’ve never met anyone that could so effortlessly discuss the biology, etymology, evolutionary history, and social and cultural interpretations of animals. I enjoyed every second of her teachings! Thank you Beatriz! // Si puedes solicitar Beatriz, por favor hacerlo!! Beatriz sabía todo sobre los animales- biología, historia evolutiva, lo que sea! Muchas gracias Beatriz y a todo los empleados de Manuel Antonio. La parque era increible.
Excellent tour around this beautiful park during a busy time.
Rolo was patient with the group and clear with all information; i had no idea how he was able yo spot the wildlife so well; we saw sloths, a toucan, bats, giant grasshoppers and iguanas to name some.
My student group had Beatriz as our guide – she was amazing!! Not only was she knowledgeable but she was incredibly engaged with us and answered all of our nerdy college kid questions! She was extremely nice and everything she found in nature we would have never been able to find by ourselves. She made our whole trip so much more engaging and amazing!
My group’s tour was guided by Beatriz and she was truly so wonderful. She knew SO much about the local flora and fauna and shared with impressive detail, managed to spot even the tiniest of creatures for us to see, and was overall just a delight. I would recommend a tour with her to anyone coming to visit Manuel Antonio.
Manuel Antonio Park is spectacular! The jungle board walk was beautiful. My kids and I saw three toed and two toed sloths, howler monkeys, land crabs, orb weaver spiders, white tailed deer, various iguanas, tropical birds, and bright green snakes! it was so much fun. Our guide, Biatriz, was so fantastic! She was funny, patient, knowledgeable, and I would highly recommend her. We wouldn’t have seen nearly as many animals without her help! The white sand beach was incredible, the ocean was amazing! This is a park I’ve always wanted to go to and it didn’t disappoint.
Beatriz gave us the best experience at the park! She was very knowledgeable and had answers for all of our questions. She’s very good at spotting wildlife, but also listening and mimicking calls to locate things. For explaining other things that we didn’t get the chance to see, she showed us pictures. She also took incredible pictures of everything we saw and shared them with everyone. When our time was up, she didn’t stop the tour, instead kept answering all of my questions. She also gave us local advice about other activities in the area.
Our guide, Dayana was amazing! She was very friendly, knowledgeable and funny. We saw all types of beautiful things but the highlight for me was seeing a sloth’s face! That’s was I was really hoping to see and Dayana was able to find one! Her telescope was very good quality and we got some beautiful photos. Thank you Dayana!
We loved the beautiful Manuel Antonio park! We could never have spotted so much without our guide, Andres! He was wonderful, skilled, and informative with so much knowledge of the various species we saw in the park. He shared his photos taken through the lens at the end of the tour which was greatly appreciated!!!!
Beatrice was a great guide, she had great energy and was very knowledgeable and passionate. I loved the history she would throw in as well.
We had a truly amazing tour. We saw more animals than we thought were possible. Our guide, Frank, was constantly sharing his expertise with us, answering questions and pointing out things we would never have seen on our own. At the end he gave us all the pictures he had taken so our adventure lives on. Thank you so much for making our holiday in Costa Rica such a once in a lifetime success.
Seen sloth bears howler monkeys capuchine monkeys bats and some birds
I can see why Manuel Antonio park is the most visited park in Costa Rica – it is pleasant, organized, clean, and all-age friendly. Plus, our tour guide was Beatriz, who was very knowledgeable, and she made the park experience really standout. We saw many animals, including a mama and baby sloths. (Thank you Beatriz!!!)
We had a great time on our your.
Our tour guide “Dago” was very knowledgeable.
He helped us spot and learn about many species of animals, as well as plants.
You would be lucky enough to have Dago as your guide
We saw so many wonderful animals including monkeys, sloths, toucans, and hummingbirds. Our tour guide, Andres, was wonderful. So knowledgeable and kind. Pick up transportation from our hotel was helpful.
We had a great time at Manuel Antonio National Park. Our guide, Esteban, was very knowledgeable and was able to spot so many fantastic animals and birds to show us. He was great for positioning his telescopic lens for us to get a better view and even took photos through the lens on our phones for us. We saw a toucan, sloths, howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, forest crabs, deer, bats and various other birds and insects. We had a great time and the park is beautiful.
Our guide Andres was so knowledgeable and passionate about his work and the environment making sure we got as much information about the fauna as possible. He was amazing at finding the birds, reptiles, monkeys, deer, coatis etc and pointing his camera at each so that we could all see, close up , these amazing creatures. It made our tour so very interesting and time went so fast. His interest went so far as participating in research with University biologists. Our small group was lucky to have him as our guide. No one should experience MA Park without a guide as they are so good at spotting the animals.
The guided tour is a must, we wouldn’t have been abel to see much with out Andres y Beatriz, our guides. They weren’t awsome, very well prepared. Beatriz is a Biologist, so you can imagen 🙂. Get there early so you can enjoy enough time at the beach.
Thanks to Esteban, we have seen many animals, could have great pictures and a great time! In a group of 6 people, we have walked through the main trail to the beach and Esteban gave us very interesting information all the way through. He is very kind and available to answer your questions. Don’t hesitate to go for a tour with him!
nuestros guías, Andrés y Beatriz, fueron muy serviciales, nos mostraron todo y resolvieron nuestras dudas, hicieron del camino algo ameno. ademas vimos mucha fauna.
We were so so happy we chose to do a guided tour of the park. We thought the guide might not help that much but we were very wrong! Their knowledge was so expansive and they also carry a scope to help you see the animals so it helped us see sloths, monkeys, iguanas, bats, etc. Our guide also helped us stay away from the crowds which was very nice because we were a large group already. Checho was the very first guide of Manuel Antonio park and was a mentor to many other guides so knew everything there was to know (and was very funny) so we were very happy with our experience. Highly recommend!
We had a small group tour with Andres. We were really impressed by his knowledge of the park and various ecosystems throughout the country, as well as his enthusiasm for his work. Not only did he go out of his way to seek out various animals, but he shared his findings with other tour groups near us that missed what we were seeing. At the conclusion of the tour he shared some amazing photos with us that we were thrilled to share with friends and family.
Our tour guide was Diego, it was a delight to meet him. Diego was very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna in the park. Trip highlight was seeing several sloths.
Thznk you so much Diego
Beatriz was very knowledgeable, engaging and fun. It was helpful that she was able to capture photos and videos and share we us. Always amazed how they find and see animals that blend in so much with the vegetation.
Dagoberto was a terrific guide! He was so enthusiastic about teaching about the wildlife and ecosystems of the park and Costa Rica. We were glad we drove our own car, so we could stay several hours to enjoy the beautiful jungle-rimmed beach cove. Paradise found!
Christopher was our guide and thanks to him we spotted a lot of animals. We spotted at least 4-5 sloths that we would not have seen if we had done the tour by ourselves. I really recommend booking with the guide, as Manuel Antonio Park is mainly worth it for the wildlife
Absolutely recommend booking a guided tour (request Beatriz!). She was an amazing guide and told so many funny stories and interesting facts about the animals. We saw so many things we would not have seen without a guide. Beatriz also took photos through the scope and sent them to us afterwards so we did not waste anytime with every member of the group getting a photo through the scope, this was a great idea! We saw three types of monkeys, sloths, agouti, snakes, frogs, birds, and insects! A highlight of our Costa Rica trip 🙂
if we had gone without a guide we would have missed nearly everything. We went on the 7:30am tour and saw three types of monkeys, crabs, butterflies, sloths, the rarely seen stick bird, spiders, lizards, bats, and learned so much about the Manuel Antonio ecosystem and biodiversity! I highly, highly recommend taking this tour.
Our enthusiastic and experienced guide, Dagoberto, showed us many mammels, lizards, insects, birds, and plants during our tour. Manuel Antonio National Park is deservedly popular (and crowded), but thanks to Dagoberto, we still managed to see a lot, and he also shared plenty of information about the ecosystem. We ended up going into the park again, later in our stay in Manuel Antonio, and had a second very enjoyable day there on our own.
Our visit to Manuel Antonio was truly the highlight of our vacation in Costa Rica. We hit the jackpot with our guide Dagoberto! He has 33 years of guiding experience in the park, and was able to show us so much more than if we had tried to tour the park on our own. His passion, vast knowledge, and experience with all animals in the park was fascinating and we left with a deep appreciation for all we saw. A day we will never forget, thank you Dago!!!🙏🏻❤️
Thank you so much Beatriz for showing me Manuel Antonio park!
She had sooo much knowledge to share about the park, animals and forest. She made it really fun and she went out of her way to show us so many animals and get the best pictures! She sent us them all at the end of the tour too. She was really great with the kids in our group and when I asked her if she new about medicinal plants in the forest she gave me so much information. Gracias Beatriz ❤️
Esteban gave our group a wonderful tour using his scope to show us the beauty and diversity of Costa Rica. Pura Vida!
Andrés is a fabulous guide and so informative and eager to share his knowledge. This is the third Manuel Antonio guided tour and by far the best.
I cannot say enough good things about our guided tour experience with Diego leading the way! We had barely stepped foot on the shady trail when we spotted a sloth which we viewed through Diego’s telescope. He offered to take pictures with my phone at each creature sighting. The best souvenirs you could ask for! The beaches are beautiful – plenty of places to stop for water and restrooms. Diego was so knowledgeable and welcoming. We felt so lucky to have had time in this sacred place!
A guide is a must to fully enjoy the park. Our eagle eye guide Esteban found sloths, monkeys, crabs, deer, cool birds, other other creatures we would have never found on our own. The beaches in the park are truly spectacular. Just be prepared for the heat!
The tour with esteban was great. He had a lot of information, told us about wildlife in Costa Rica and knows a lot about every animal. We had a fun tour with him and the time went very fast. His english was very good and he took the time to answer all our questions.
Beatriz was phenomenal and so knowledgeable about the park & nature. One of the best tour guides ever! Highly recommend!
Booked tour directly with official park site and whilst the booking engine is more effort than viator etc I’m glad I persevered.
Everything ran smoothly including pickup.
Our guide,Beatriz, was knowledgeable, engaging and personable. She made sure all guests got to see the spotted animals. She got great photos through the scope and shared these later via airdrop. We saw numerous monkeys, both 2 and 3 fingered sloths, a boa constrictor, raccoon etc. the great advantage of the park tour is that you finish at a beach and can spend the rest of the day exploring the park etc. Beatriz also gave an over site of the other trails and beaches. There are some hidden gems.there are plenty of taxis on the main strip a few hundred meters from the Park charging around 10$ for a ride back to town. The park transport is also available for $5 at specified times. A brilliant way to spend the day
We visited the park with Beatriz as our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and engaging. We learned so much more and saw so much more wildlife than we would have on our own. I would highly recommend this tour.
Our tour guide, Beth, was awesome. We learned so much about the wildlife in Costa Rica. We saw sloths, toucans and many monkeys. You definitely want to pay for a guided tour as you will not spot many of the animals on your own.
It’s gorgeous, so diverse in flora and fauna, and the people are very kind and helpful. Visiting Manual Antonio Park is a MUST, and recommended by so many people because it is worth it. Definitely get a guide thru the park for your first visit (Aldo was great, and you can get great photos and see animals you wouldn’t normally see AND get some naturalist education along the way!), but go back a second time without a guide and go at your own pace. Go early (7 AM if you can), because it heats up and gets busy after 9. We would come back again and again, if only to explore more trails, see more wildlife, and maybe a different time of year to see it in a different light (no frogs or amphibians during mid-February because it is too hot and dry).
Beatriz was a very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable tour gide who gave us extended info on the flora, fauna and history of Manuel Antonio. It was a lot of fun and would really recommend the tour to anyone! Thanks a bunch Beatriz!
I would highly recommend this tour. We learnt so much about the national park from our guide, Dagoberto. He was so enthusiastic about the topic. He also shared photos of the animals we saw after the tour. We saw a two toed and three toed sloth, a Jesus Christ lizard, howler monkeys, spider monkeys and capuchin monkeys, stick insect, blue morpho butterfly and a vine snake.
We were very glad to have had a guide for our tour of the park. I highly recommend doing it this way, since before this point we hadn’t seen many animals on our own. Our guide Diego was so knowledgable, calm and any questions thrown at him he knew the answer. As a bonus we saw every animal we had been hoping to spot – sloths, monkeys, iguanas, rare birds, crabs… it was amazing!
Andres was our guide. Very knowledgeable and polite. Pointed out things we would have never seen. Grandkids loved seeing the sloths.
We visited during the last leg of our trip to Costa Rica, and we had done quite a few self guided hikes. We paid to be guided through MA to help find more wildlife that we might have missed, and Beatriz did a fantastic job. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable; she pointed out sloths as well as many other animals and plants that are important to the ecosystem of Costa Rica. She was able to answer all the questions the group had and peppered in information about Costa Rican life and culture in a very organic way as well. She is excellent and we had a great time and received a lot of great pictures as well.
Diego was knowledgeable, soft spoken, and has a fabulous sense of humor. We fell in love him right away. He did a wonderful job of setting the scope, informing us about the animals, answering a barrage of questions, and helping us get photos. We had a great time and have already recommended the tour and Diego!
Thank you, Diego!
Bea was an amazing guide. She spotted a lot of anmials like lizards, birds, bats, sloths, snakes, monkeys, hummingbirds, crocodiles … and gave us many very interesting informations about the local wildlife and also about the history of this national park which was created on an early UFC banana plantation.
The tour was just perfect! Andres was the best! He has great knowledge of all the types of animals you can see in Manuel Antonio’s park. He takes great pictures. We had wonderful memories of the tour with him!
gracias por todo
Krystel & Nicolas
Christopher was an exceptional guide. He was very knowledgeable about all the plants and animals, and even though it was a hot afternoon, he made our visit fun. Swimming in the ocean at the end of the tour was refreshing. The beach was stunning. I highly recommend a guided tour.
Diego was a wonderful guide! He spotted creatures in the foliage that I would never have noticed! He was very informative and entertaining.
Wow, we knew it was going to be a great tour but it absolutely exceeded our expectations. Esteban was our tour guide and he was wonderful! So much knowledge and we saw SO many different animals. My favorite was a big group of monkeys. One of the monkeys had a baby on its back. Our guide said the baby was probably 1 week old. We also saw 4 different sloths! One of them had a baby wrapped up in her arms. Such a great experience and I’m so grateful we did it!
Beatriz was absolutely amazing. High energy and very knowledgeable. She kept us engaged for the entire time – we must have been with her over 3 hours. She had a monocular telescope which meant we were able to see the wildlife clearly. She also took the photos and shared with us after which meant we could concentrate on just looking and enjoying.
I loved that fact you couldn’t take food or plastic in – how forward thinking. We followed the tour with a swim at a small cove – but watch out for those Capuchin’s they are on the prowl and will take items.
Hi, it is not the first park we visit, the performance, approach, mood and attention was on highest level. I can only give a greatest thank.
The tour came to life with our tour guide, Chechen. He was extremely knowledgable and kind. He shared his love of nature and the park with us. He is a true inspiration to preserve the wildlife and beauty of Costa Rica.
We had THE best time. We saw lots of wildlife and learned so much about the fauna, flora and history of Costa Rica. Beatriz was knowledgeable, funny and kind. I highly recommend her. The process was also very smooth and straightforward.
We were a group of 6 adults, and found the entire experience wonderful. Esteban, our guide, was great and had a keen eye for wildlife (although I suspect the “tour guide grapevine” came in handy). His English was excellent, was informative, and spent plenty of time explaining the sights and sounds.
We got to El Avion Restaurant an hour early so decided to have lunch, great decision, food was excellent.
Esteban showed up right on time, led us to a secure parking lot where we met up with the rest of our group. Off to the park and a wonderful adventure!
We had a great time at Manuel Antonio with Beatriz as our guide. She was very knowledgeable and showed us plenty of animals/ birds that we would have never spotted ourselves!
From the moment Beatrix met us outside the park and escorted us inside, she was personable, friendly with locals & visitors and upbeat. She was super knowledgeable about the park & the species within. As we toured, she spotted many birds, mammals, insects & reptiles then described their characteristics, habits and had some interesting stories for each. Beatrix made sure everyone was engaged and answered all of our group’s questions with patience and a sense of humour. To our delight she air dropped photos of all the flora & fauna we had seen through her scope during our tour. Amazing job Beatrix! Mucho Gracias!
We really enjoyed our tour at Manuel Antonio Park. The guide, Josue (Checho) was very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable about the wildlife, vegetation, and history of Costa Rica.
Our tour through the Manual Antonio Nationalpark was the best in costa rica and I think we saw them all. Andes as a wonderful and very well informed guide showed us all theee sorts of sloth there are in the park and we learned a lot. We also saw two kinds of monkeys, a crab and iguanas. With the telescope it is very easy to see all the details very clearly and Andres took pictures through it and gave them to us at the end of the tour. At the end we could swim in the ocean. What a wonderful experience! Don‘t miss it!
Beatriz was a wonderful guide! She had a great personality and sense of humor, and her knowledge of the animals habitat and history of the park was amazing!
This has been my third time to Costa Rica and I have never seen as much wildlife from prior visits. I saw the most exotic animals with our guided tour guide – Diego. He had an eye for all sights and sounds and it helped make the experience an unforgettable one. I saw not just one sloth but a mom and baby sloth. We saw a toucan and we had the opportunity to take photos with the help of Diego of the special moments via his binocular equipment. He was very informative, funny and made the group comfortable to ask all types of questions. I will return here and will ask for Diego again for my friends and family to experience this as well. You will not be disappointed! 5/5 stars
Our guide Esteban was brilliant, before we’d even entered the park his passion and knowledge was evident, showing us toucans in the car park. We saw lots of wildlife, including two- and three-toed sloths (some with babies), bats, crabs, lizards, monkeys and nesting nightjars & hummingbirds.
The beaches are beautiful, just beware of the monkeys – they will open your bags and have a rummage, looking for food!
Would also recommend the hike up to the viewpoint, just be prepared for lots of steps!
We had such a great tour with Beatriz. We’ve got two kids and she pitched it just right to give us all the right balance of energy, expertise and exciting things and animals to see. It was an unforgettable experience. Well worth it.
We had an incredible guided tour with Christopher and I’m sure that we would not have noticed 75% of the things that we saw without his help. He was very patient and set up his tripod spotting scope and used our phones to capture images using the magnification of the scope. We got some incredibly detailed photos that would have only been possible with a very high-end lens, which we did not have with us on this trip. The guided tour with Christopher was one of the highlights of our vacation.
We are so glad we did this with a guide. He was so knowledgeable and new where to look for every animal
Well worth the money we do not recommended going on your own because you will miss 90 % of it, also they bring a telescope with them so it is like looking close up. Also able to take pictures and videos through the telescope.
Thank you to are guide Esteban.
Our visit to Manuel Antonio National Park was wonderful. Our guide, Frank, was very knowledgeable and personable, and described what we were seeing equally well in English and Spanish. We saw so many amazing birds, mammals and reptiles and followed the tour up with a swim at one of the park’s pristine and uncrowded beaches. Highly recommended!
This was a great tour, we saw many species including the elusive sloths and their babies! Andres was an AMAZING guide, funny and informative and generous. It was a nice way to see things we would never have spotted (toucans, macaws, lizards, monkeys, sloths etc…
We have been to several national parks in Costa Rica, but Beatrize was the best guide! So charismatic with a lot of knowledge. We saw the most animals in Manuel Antonio, but we did feel that this park was a little more commercial than other parks we’ve been to. We love Beatrize, take care and Pura Vida
We never would have seen sloths without booking this tour. We also learned some great facts about all of the wildlife and some plants that we saw. I appreciate learning things that bring awareness to environmental issues that highlight why it is so important to have parks like this to protect land and life. Thanks to our guide, Kevin, for a wonderful tour!
We had a great time. We saw sloths, monkeys and all sorts of other animals. We took a 4 year old and he was over it at about the 2hr mark but did pretty well. The beach was wonderful. Our guide was great!
Definitely the best way to know the park is doing a guided tour. I had the luck to be guided by Diego, and the experience was incredible!
Andres was an excellent guide!
We booked the early tour and enjoyed Andres sharing his love of the creatures and the eco system with us.
Andres tour was great ! He did a fabulous job educating us and sharing his love for this beautiful ecosystem .
Our guide, Esteban, did a phenomenal job spotting wildlife and going above and beyond to show our group the most spectacular sights during our tour. He was very helpful with taking photos through his telescope for anyone who wanted them and was mindful of the pace of the tour being manageable for everyone. We saw a baby three toed sloth, a two toed sloth, a group of coatis, white faced monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and so much more that we would never have noticed without his trained eye!
Beatriz was a wonderful guide. We were a group of five and she easily accommodated all our wants and needs. She was informative with a great sense of humor. She obviously loves the park and respects all of its flora and fauna. It was one of the best guided tours I have been on. I highly recommend it. She shared amazing photos with us. I would give 10 stars if possible
Our guide was fantastic and we saw so many different species. She was so knowledgable and helpful with taking fantastic photo’s!
Beatriz made it a way better experience for me and the group. I’m glad I booked the guided tour instead of trying to go by myself. First off, Beatriz gave us all the information and fun facts about Manuel Antonio and the animals. She was able to answer any questions we had. Second, she spotted the wildlife quickly and showed us where to look. There was no way I could find any of those animals myself. Finally, even when we could see the animals ourselves it was waaay better to use the guide’s telescope to see them clearly. She also took high quality photos though her telescope for the whole group. Our phone cameras were useless. I saw all the animals I came here to see: white faced monkeys, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, mama sloth, baby sloth. Beatriz was knowledgeable, funny and super friendly. Highly recommend!
Andres was our guide and he was phenomenal. Extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Provided us with some other birding information including a location that gave us an incredible “bird” find. Saw many sloths, squirrel monkeys, agoutis, bats, birds, insects and plants. Andres was very knowledgeable not just about the local flora and fauna, but the local economy, etc. Thanks for a great tour, Andres!
Andres gave us a great tour. He really knows the flora and fauna of the area. We saw sloths three times, twice with babies, along with bats, two types of snakes, land crabs, numerous birds, including one nesting on the ground, a black iguana, two types of orchids, a helmeted lizard, and so much more. The blue butterflies were amazing. A nice feature was that Andres was able to snap pics through his scope and then he shared them with the whole group at the end of the tour. Overall, this was a great experience. Big thumbs up.
Fabulous tour and day in the park. Beatriz was the best guide we could have hoped for – extremely knowledgeable, an incredible wildlife spotter and lots of fun. The wildlife, surroundings and beaches were amazing. A must do in Costa Rica.
Loved Esteban’s tour of the park, he had a vast knowledge of the amazing biodiversity in this part of the world, was very fun to learn from! He helped the group find a basilisk, numerous sloths (and their babies!), land crabs, monkeys, toucans, and more. Also made sure everyone got good photos on their phones. Thank you Esteban!
Thanks to the guide we saw all different kind of wildlife. The guide even sends the zoom pictures at the end of tour. Unforgetable experience!
To be truthful, I did not expect much of this park–largely due to the fact that it is the most popularly visited national park in Costa Rica; thus expecting crowds and not much to see in terms of flora and fauna.
Happily, I was mistaken. Our guide showed me creatures that I could not only see on my own, but having them photographed as well; he was clearly passionate about the park and its natural beauty.
And then, unexpectedly near the end of the tour, we saw a group pf white faced monkeys doing their thing in a few connected trees, which allowed me to take videos and to delight in their natural habitat and behaviour!
I then accepted the guide’s invitation to enjoy the beach and trails on my own till park closure; this served as a wonderful way to end this unexpected great venue.
Our guide Beatriz is very passionate about wildlife conservation and did an excellent job of explaining the history, habitat and activities of all the wildlife she spotted for us. Very worthwhile!
Thank you Bea for a wonderful tour of MA park. I got to see a lot of animals even in wheelchair! My family had a great time.
My wife and I had been coached and done our homework to believe that this would be a very good tour and experience and that we would see a lot of unique wildlife. It was so much better than we thought it would be and our park guide Frank was mostly responsible for making it so. He engaged everyone in our small group from the start. He showed us an amazing array of wildlife and we were as up close and personal as possible. Beautiful photos and simply a great day in Costa Rica!
We saw all 4 types of monkey as well as a sloth and unexpected porcupine, also a ton of birds and lizards. Beatriz was very knowledgeable and fun. She answered all our questions and corrected some other guides. She also took great pictures with her phone and shared them with us afterwards.
Something you may not know: The Park itself has no guides. All guided tours are provided by outside vendors so you will see another company name in addition to the park name on your correspondence. Ours was through Biophilia, which is the largest tour operator. Our guide, Checho, has over 30 years experience in the Park so we were blessed to have someone who could not only point out animals, but give us a lot of history on the Park and the area.
As others have written, if you want a nice walk through the woods, skip the guide. If you want to see animals and know history, the guide makes all the difference.
Going later in the day avoids the morning crowds both on the walk and the beach.
I did a tour of Manuel Antonio National Park led by the guide, Diego. Diego was very laid-back, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the biodiversity of the park. He knows exactly where to look for the multitude of species that inhabit the park. Without his experience and expertise I wouldn’t have seen anything like the amount that I did. He uses a camera lens that gives views of animals and not easy to spot with the naked eye. Overall the tour with Diego was a very rich experience, never to be forgotten. Highly recommended and great value!
Esteban was truly an incredible tour guide. His enthusiasm for the wildlife and the park was second to none and it made for a great day with him. Would highly recommend! Thank you Esteban
