Overview

The Corcovado National Park Day tour start around 7.50am and arrives approximately 45 minutes later at San Pedrillo Ranger Station in Corcovado National Park. A safety talk and a review of the itinerary are done before departure. Also, there will be access to a coffee station (Coffee, Tea, fruits, toast, natural juice) included in the price.

Each boat ride can be a little bumpy or very pleasant depending on the weather of the day, but these conditions are part of the adventure in this remote and wonderful area of Costa Rica so please be mentally prepared to enjoy the great adventure.

The trails at San Pedrillo station are flat and easy for all types of people, however, the tropical forest is warm during the dry season (December to April) and rainy from May to November.

Corcovado National Park is located in the Osa Peninsula; Covering an area of 700 square miles on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, the Osa geological history makes it home to a nearly unparalleled amount of biodiversity. The Peninsula is estimated to hold 2.5% of the biodiversity of the entire world – while covering less than a thousandth of a percent of its total surface area – truly earning its title as the most biologically intense place on Earth.

Our concept on the tour is to learn about all the ecosystems found along the hike like trees, plants, insects, rivers, birds, mammals and also during the boat transit you may have the chance to observe and learn about Dolphins, turtles, pelagic birds, and even Whales depending on the season of the year (July to October).

As soon as the boat arrives in Corcovado the guide will lead the group to the ranger station where there will be time to get ready for the first hike. At the ranger station, there are facilities like toilets and showers.

The first walk takes place in one of the most extensive trails of this sector of Corcovado with a duration of approximately 2 hours. The path is totally flat and crosses the primary forest and heads towards the beach where the guides will show very interesting coastal vegetation like tropical almond trees that feed the birds, such as the red scarlet macaw, with its fruits. Along this path, you can appreciate huge trees and plants of great biological value that our guide will interpret.

Then you will return to the ranger station to enjoy an outdoor picnic lunch to recharge your energy and prepare for the second hike.

The second trail is shorter with a bit more broken ground and a duration of 1.5 hours. On this second hike, it’s possible to observe more birds, mammals and very interesting vegetation, and even crocodiles. Also at the end of the trail, we visit a small waterfall where it is possible to cool off and even receive a message from nature under the waterfall.

The second hike is subject to weather; especially during the rainy season.
The boat starts heading back to Sierpe at 2:30 pm and you can expect to arrive around 3:30/4:00 pm

Due to strict government policies on the number of daily visitors to the park, making reservations as far in advance as possible is strongly recommended.

If you like lush rainforests, want to howl with howler monkeys, relax with a sloth, sing with the birds, or investigate millions of insects, come for a tour of Corcovado National Park in the Osa Peninsula!

The Corcovado National Park is one of Costa Rica’s best nature spots for eco-tourism! The number of visitors allowed per day is regulated and reservations fill up quickly.

We really had a blast at Corcovado! The day was really well organized, witha super boat tour to Pedrillo ranger station and with the 3h walk into the forest and buffet lunch at the ranger station. The guides were very nice and very well prepared on everything, from plants to trees to animals, both in the forest and in the ocean. We were very lucky to have been able to see whales, dolphins, three different types of monkeys and several birds and more fauna during the walk. A must-do experience!

Had a great trip – seeing turtles, whales, and dolphins on the sea and spider monkeys, a tapir, birds, a crocodile and a Jesus Christ lizard in the beautiful Corcovado park. We were really well looked after and had a delicious lunch – thanks for a great time!
