Overview

With the establishment of Manuel Antonio National Park in 1972, the people of Costa Rica decided to preserve for future generations one of the most beautiful and bio-diverse areas in the world. Although it is the country’s smallest national park, the stunning beauty and diversity of wildlife in its 683 hectares is unmatched. Besides, you will have more opportunity to spot wildlife in a shorter time!

Manuel Antonio National Park contains a charming combination of rain forest, beaches, and coral reefs. These beaches are the most beautiful in the country, lined with lush forest. The forest is home to 2 and 3 fingered sloths, toucans, iguanas, the rare and adorable squirrel monkeys, millions of colorful little crabs, and much more. The trail that winds around Punta Catedral affords some spectacular views. The park is easy to reach, south of the town of Quepos in Puntarenas province, and is near a good selection of hotels and restaurants.

In this particular tour, you’ll hike through the rainforest along 1,500 meters of easy-access trails in an estimated time of 2.5 to 3 hours, with an experienced & bilingual naturalist interpreter, certified by the Costa Rican Tourism Board. Your guide, equipped with a high-powered spotting scope, will help you locate the vast variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat, you can also use their telescope to take pictures of the animals up close. You will have the chance to spot Howler, white-faced, and Titi monkeys, plus Agutis, and, if you are lucky, the beautiful Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus), all while learning about the diet, habits, and many more facts about the variety of species you’ll encounter during this incredible nature adventure.

This tour includes all transportation, your admission ticket and a fresh break in the middle with water, what more could you ask for?

We had a really great experience taking a private tour in Manuel Antonio. We decided on a whim to take the tour, and an hour later, we were meeting our guide. He was super knowledgable and spotted animals there are no way we would have noticed. Having the scope was also a huge, huge plus. We had debated whether we wanted to do a tour, but both strongly agreed at the end that we definitely made the right decision!

Fantastic Wildlife Experience with Beatriz

Such an amazing afternoon with Beatriz. She knows her park! Her ability to give detailed information about indigenous plants, their use in the ecosystem, medicinal and beauty; from their Latin names, genus of plants and safety. She explained the Punta Catedral Point and how it was formed and why. We learned about monkey species and saw a loan young male Howler monkey, and 2 other types of monkeys.
The sloth is called by fingers not toes and we saw the 3 fingered sleeping sloth and got to know about its ecosystem; multiple synergistic stages and the loss of one could be the loss of all and the benefits they bring.
She aided us in finding, birds, animals, and insects, and photographing them.
Beatriz kept us casually on pace, with the adventure all around us. To look and see the park and all it has to offer, safely and respectfully. Beatriz was kind and patient, as we are older and I have an ambulation disability. I would recommend the personal guided tour, would love to sit and chat about the park and the pura vida of Costa Rica with Beatriz any time.

We feel very thankful in this world of chaos to have had the opportunity to tour the beautiful park, along with our guide Beatriz! Besides being personable, she’s very knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. She speaks English very well and is wonderful about answering any and all questions. Thank you for this experience! We truly found that the time we spent in the park with our guide was worth every penny. PS: Don’t forget to tip! 🙂
