  • 2.5 - 3 Hours

With the establishment of Manuel Antonio National Park in 1972, the people of Costa Rica decided to preserve for future generations one of the most beautiful and bio-diverse areas in the world. Although it is the country’s smallest national park, the stunning beauty and diversity of wildlife in its 683 hectares is unmatched. Besides, you will have more opportunity to spot wildlife in a shorter time! Manuel Antonio National Park contains a charming combination of rain forest, beaches, and coral reefs. These beaches are the most beautiful in the country, lined with lush forest. The forest is home to 2 and 3 fingered sloths, toucans, iguanas, the rare and adorable squirrel monkeys, millions of colorful little crabs and much more. The trail that winds around Punta Catedral affords some spectacular views. The park is easy to reach, south of the town of Quepos in Puntarenas province, and is near a good selection of hotels and restaurants. In this particular tour, you’ll hike through the rainforest along 1,500 meters of easy-access trails in an estimated time of 2.5 to 3 hours, with an experienced & bilingual naturalist interpreter, certified by the Costa Rican Tourism Board. Your guide, equipped with a high-powered spotting scope, will help you locate the vast variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat, you can also use their telescope to take pictures of the animals up close. You will have the chance to spot Howler, white-faced, and Titi monkeys, plus Agutis, and, if you are lucky, the beautiful Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus), all while learning about the diet, habits, and many more facts about the variety of species you’ll encounter during this incredible nature adventure. This tour includes all transportation, your admission ticket and a fresh break in the middle with fruits and drinks too, what more could you ask for?

Our guide was Beatric (maybe spelled wrong) and she was super knowledgable about the various species of mamals/animals living in the park. Making for a great day for our 12 year old nature freak😍. Sure his science teacher will get an earful when we get home🤓. She was also super personable, so accommodating, and funny. Highly recommend this tour! Thank you Beatrice!

We went in the afternoon in the middle of the week…I feel like this might be the best time to go as the crowds were minimal. Staying at the end for the beaches is an absolute must. Our guide told us, however, that we could stay until 4pm when the park closes and then start exiting at 4 but we were actually told to leave the beach at 3:30pm. We saw lots of fascinating animals, including a pack of howler monkeys, but we likely would have chosen a different guide given the choice as ours lacked the pure wonderment and enthusiasm that we have had with other guides. Overall, however, it was 100% worth seeing the park with a guide or else we would have completely missed everything.

Best way to enjoy the park

The guides are very knowledgeable about animals, and you can see animals so much better when they show them to you in their mono lens. They will also take most amazing photos using your phone and their lens. During the morning hours animals are easier to spot so it is the best time to go

Jason was my guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife. An amazing eye and sense for where they could be found. I had never seen a sloth before and we spotted two during our walk along with a group of howler monkeys. He helped me take the most fantastic photos using my phone through his lens. Thank you so much!

Great visit to Manuel Antonio!

We came to Manuel Antonio Park and booked a Private tour. Our guide Frank proved to have an excellent eye for spotting wildlife within the park. We saw 5 sloths, Howler and Capuchin Monkeys, many lizards and iguanas, and many bird species over the course of the morning. Frank was a pleasure to spend time with in the park and helped make our experience truly memorable.
