Overview

With the establishment of Manuel Antonio National Park in 1972, the people of Costa Rica decided to preserve for future generations one of the most beautiful and bio-diverse areas in the world. Although it is the country’s smallest national park, the stunning beauty and diversity of wildlife in its 683 hectares is unmatched. Besides, you will have more opportunity to spot wildlife in a shorter time!

Manuel Antonio National Park contains a charming combination of rain forest, beaches, and coral reefs. These beaches are the most beautiful in the country, lined with lush forest. The forest is home to 2 and 3 fingered sloths, toucans, iguanas, the rare and adorable squirrel monkeys, millions of colorful little crabs and much more. The trail that winds around Punta Catedral affords some spectacular views. The park is easy to reach, south of the town of Quepos in Puntarenas province, and is near a good selection of hotels and restaurants.

In this particular tour, you’ll hike through the rainforest along 1,500 meters of easy-access trails in an estimated time of 2.5 to 3 hours, with an experienced & bilingual naturalist interpreter, certified by the Costa Rican Tourism Board. Your guide, equipped with a high-powered spotting scope, will help you locate the vast variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat, you can also use their telescope to take pictures of the animals up close. You will have the chance to spot Howler, white-faced, and Titi monkeys, plus Agutis, and, if you are lucky, the beautiful Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus), all while learning about the diet, habits, and many more facts about the variety of species you’ll encounter during this incredible nature adventure.

This tour includes all transportation, your admission ticket and a fresh break in the middle with fruits and drinks too, what more could you ask for?

Frank was our family guide at the Manuel Antonio Park. He was great and I would definitely recommend having a guide like Frank to tour the park. It was amazing how he could birds, monkeys, sloths and other livelihoods among the trees and leaves, even the tiniest things. He was incredibly knowledgable, enthusiastic and took great pictures through his “telescope” in all of the cameras in our phones for anyone in our group who wanted them. Without him, I do not believe I would have seen anything except some monkeys at the end of the trail.

Our family had a wonderful guided tour of Manuel Antonio Park with our guide Frank. He is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, takes his role very seriously and made sure we saw every aspect of wildlife available. He did such a great job of taking photos with our camera through his telescope, leaving us with great memories. We strongly recommend having a tour guide, as we would not have seen most of the animals and wildlife.

Me and my group had an amazing time in Manuel Antonio Park. Beatriz was a super friendly, funny and highly educated guide, who has shown us many incredibly interesting animals and told many fascinating facts about wildlife and nature. I highly recommended her and the tour as well.

We have been in Costa Rica over two weeks and have now been on many guided tours of various sorts in nature. Our very first tour was with Beatriz at Manuel Antonio National Park, and in retrospect, she was the very best guide we had during our trip. She spotted the most animals, worked with us to produce the very best pictures, and did her job with a smile on her face, a positive spirit, and enthusiasm. Thank you Beatriz for a great day in the park.
