Overview

With the establishment of Manuel Antonio National Park in 1972, the people of Costa Rica decided to preserve for future generations one of the most beautiful and bio-diverse areas in the world. Although it is the country’s smallest national park, the stunning beauty and diversity of wildlife in its 683 hectares is unmatched. Besides, you will have more opportunity to spot wildlife in a shorter time! Manuel Antonio National Park contains a charming combination of rain forest, beaches, and coral reefs. These beaches are the most beautiful in the country, lined with lush forest. The forest is home to 2 and 3 fingered sloths, toucans, iguanas, the rare and adorable squirrel monkeys, millions of colorful little crabs and much more. The trail that winds around Punta Catedral affords some spectacular views. The park is easy to reach, south of the town of Quepos in Puntarenas province, and is near a good selection of hotels and restaurants. In this particular tour, you’ll hike through the rainforest along 1,500 meters of easy-access trails in an estimated time of 2.5 to 3 hours, with an experienced & bilingual naturalist interpreter, certified by the Costa Rican Tourism Board. Your guide, equipped with a high-powered spotting scope, will help you locate the vast variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat, you can also use their telescope to take pictures of the animals up close. You will have the chance to spot Howler, white-faced, and Titi monkeys, plus Agutis, and, if you are lucky, the beautiful Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus), all while learning about the diet, habits, and many more facts about the variety of species you’ll encounter during this incredible nature adventure. This tour includes all transportation, your admission ticket and a fresh break in the middle with fruits and drinks too, what more could you ask for?

We booked this Tour last minute the night before and everything went really well. We met our guide Beatriz at the agreed-upon location with several other tourists and then drove down to a special parking area near the entrance of the national Park. The entire tour was simply amazing. Beatrice was able to point out a lot of wildlife to us and we were able to take many pictures, some of them through her telescope. We saw several sloths, dragonflies, iguanas, lizards, bats, birds, monkeys (Howlers and Whiteface), crabs, spiders, grasshoppers etc. She was very knowledgeable about the park and it’s fauna and flora and had an excellent sense of humor. I would definitely recommend this your!

We truely enjoyed our tour of the park with Beatrix. She was so knowledgeable and gave us so much information about all the amazing wildlife of Costa Rica! We really appreciated her help getting some awesome pictures as well! We debated touring with or without a guide but we wouldn’t have had anywhere near the same experience without her help. We learned so much and had fun along the way. Thanks again Beatrix!
